The Avon Trail

President's Message regarding Trail Use

A Reminder of the Privilege of Hiking on Private Property. As members of the Avon Trail or any other trail association, we are all conscious of the importance of following the Hikers' Code. We stay on the trail at all times, take only pictures and leave nothing behind but an appreciation and gratitude towards the generosity of Landowners who allow us the privilege of hiking on their property. We park only on the side roads - there is no designated parking spots on the Avon trail nor are there any spots marked in our guide book. We do not park on Landowner's lane ways. Failure to follow the Code will result in consequences such as further road walking, etc. We have a wonderful selection of places to hike along the Avon Trail, including forests, bush lots, cropped fields and on Conservation Lands, along creeks and along rivers. We hear song birds and see birds of prey. We catch glimpses of wildlife, animals on pasture and farmers hard at work. We are lucky to be able to do this. Lets work together to make sure this Privilege continues. Karen Hill President Avon Trail Association
